Advance notification of demonstrations and protests allows the University to plan for campus activities, provide appropriate logistical support for free expression, and help maintain safety and essential University functions. During periods of increased activity or heightened risk of disruption to University functions, pre-notification is required at least 48 hours (two business days) in advance.

For Fall 2026, pre-notification will be required for protests and demonstrations taking place on the following dates:

• September: 11, 22–25
• October: 7, 24–25
• November: 3
• December: 3
   

Dates are subject to change as circumstances warrant. Any changes will be promptly posted on the Office of Rules Administration website.

How pre-notification works:

• Submitting a notification: Notifications should be submitted through the Event Notification web form. On all other dates, organizers and sponsors of demonstrations, protests, and similar activities are strongly encouraged to provide notification no later than the time of any public announcement of the event so that the University can plan appropriately.
• Pre-notification is not approval: Notification is not an approval process or a request for permission to demonstrate. This is the Rules-specific notification process for protests and demonstrations and is separate from other University event-planning and space-reservation requirements.
• Failure to submit notification: Demonstrations or protests held without pre-notification on these or other dates designated by the University may be required to relocate or disperse, and failure to follow instructions to relocate or disperse may result in violations of the Rules of University Conduct.
